Offered at MCC-Maple Woods This program provides students with the fundamentals of foreign language interpreting with an emphasis in medical and legal settings. Admission to the program required.

Learning Outcomes

    Certificate-Foreign Language Interpreting
  • 1. Demonstrate consecutive interpretation skills, including active listening, concentration and retention skills.
  • 2. Demonstrate skills in simultaneous interpretation through shadowing, time lagging, and paraphrasing.
  • 3. Employ note-taking and note-reading techniques in order to improve subsequent recall in a target language.
  • 4. Demonstrate ability to perform sight translations in English and target language.
